London to Paris
|
Chunnel to Paris.
After breakfast, we boarded the sleek Eurostar train and took the Chunnel (Channel Tunnel) to Paris. The Eurostar zooms along at nearly 200 miles per hour although it is limited to about 100 miles per hour in the Chunnel. It is 250 feet below the sea bed at its lowest point. What an amazing engineering feat. |

Walk to Paris Dinner
We arrived in Paris and checked into the Art Hotel Eiffel. Then we headed to dinner. On the way, we had a surprise stop near the Eiffel tower for Champagne and Fruit Punch. |
|
Paris Dinner.
After our surprise Champagne by the Eiffel Tower, we continued on and ate at Le Bosquet. It was great to see the kids experience eating snails that they never had before. |
|
Kids at the playground.
The kids weren't done yet. After dinner, they wanted to play at the playground near the Eiffel Tower. They were trying to talk to the French kids. Keegan & Laila would ask Trisha how to say hello etc. in French to communicate with them. The French kids did the same asking their parents how to say words in English. It was a great experience. |

Historic Heart of Paris
Pétanque.
This morning we learned the Parisian game of pétanque from some locals and played a few games. I'm sure we were not as expert in the game as the Parisians, but we did have fun. |
|
A break.
After learning the French game of Petanque, it was time for a quick break. We opted to try another French specialty. We went for the French chocolate crepes. |
|
Paris birthplace and Notre-Dame.
After our quick break, we took a walking tour of the birthplace of Paris learning about its Roman roots and medieval times. Our tour ended with the Notre-Dame Cathedral. It was sad to see Notre-Dame after the fire destroyed its roof. I'm hoping to see it again restored to its original splendor. |
|
Free time.
After our morning tour, the afternoon was free to explore and enjoy Paris. After visiting "The Pirate's Candies" shop, we headed to Carettes Restaurant to enjoy the best chocolate euclairs in Paris. The kids did enjoy them! |
|
Eiffel Tower
I had to walk off the dessert at Carettes and had a little free time to get a closer look at the Eiffel Tower. It is really an amazing structure. |
|
Seine River Cruise.
Later in the day, Paul and Stan enjoyed an open-air evening cruise along the Seine River as the sun was setting. It was the perfect finish for our last night in Paris. |

Louvre Museum.
|
Louvre Museum.
Our morning begins with a visit to the magnificent Louvre Museum. We were introduced to the timeless treasures of Mona Lisa, Winged Victory, Venus de Milo, and other great works of art. |
After our Louvre Museum tour, we had lunch at the Louvre and then met our driver and bus for our ride to our country hotel in the heart of Burgundy in Saint Fargeau.
